Rationale
The purpose of the Sendai Missions Team is to create follow up ministries for contacts made through Let's Start Talking in Sendai, Japan. The Sendai church of Christ sends an invitation each summer to host a Let's Start Talking mission team for six weeks. During this six week period, the team offers conversational English using the gospel of Luke. Since the beginning of this program, the number of contacts continues to increase. The church realizes that many continue in their involvement each year.

Now having completed eight years, and preparing for the ninth year, the church in Sendai desires to have a team of full time missionaries devote their focus to follow-up based upon the growing need. Over the last three years, teams have studied with 75 - 90 people per year, and yet there continues to be a waiting list of 30 - 40 names of people each year who don't have the opportunity to study the Bible with someone.

All four members of the mission team have gone to Sendai together as a part of the Let's Start Talking ministry. Familiar with the church, with non-christian contacts, and committed to prayer, they have accepted the invitation to assist in the growth of the church.
